This is my brother, Benny. He is a Cavalry Scout Platoon Leader in Iraq. The 4th of July is this weekend and all of the troops really miss what they have back home. BBQs, family, friends…etc. We could really use your help keeping hopes alive through these rough times. Please send us your letters of support and gratitude, and we will get them to the troops. Also, starting July 2nd you can call the Kevin and Casey show and we will record a message for you to send over seas.
Here is an excerpt from an e-mail that Benny sent to me recetly:
"Everyday I see improvment in this country. Basic infrastructure such as fresh water supply, sewage and electricity is being installed to villages that have never had these basic modern-day conveniences before. Words can't describe how satisfying it is to visit a village that has recently has a fresh water well installed and see the people of the village clean, especially the children. The children don't come up to beg for a bottle of water anymore...(now the just beg for candy) and when we drive through those villages all the children run to the edge of the road and wave, give us 'thumbs-up', blow kisses at us. But most importantly, when I sit with the Muqtar or Sheik (the Mayor) of the village and ask him how his village is, he dosn't need to tell me that his village needs clean water or the raw sewage removed from the streets or electricity...instead he tells me about 'bad guys' that he knows about. That is how we are winning this war."...."We appreciate everyone's support over here, whether they send packages, letters or however they contribute to the war effort."..."I can only speak for the Iraqi Army Companies that I am partnered with, and I can tell you they are more than capable of providing security for the citizens of Iraq."
This is Benny's Cobra Platoon in Iraq.
Please use the space below to submit your letter. Like Benny said in his letter, we appreciate everyone's support.
